"GAZE AND GESTURE" Alfredo Gisholt

Catapult Gallery in collaboration with Deborah Colton Gallery is proud to present Gaze and Gesture, a solo exhibition by Alfredo Gisholt. He created these works during time spent on the coast of Maine. Using only black, white, and gray, Gisholt captures the shifting light, tides, and atmosphere of the coastal landscape through bold, expressive mark-making.

Though rooted in observation, these pieces on paper move between representation and abstraction. Gisholt draws inspiration from artists like Goya, Braque, and Picasso—channeling their expressive power, structural experimentation, and emotional depth.

The works invite close looking. Planes shift, space folds, and meaning builds gradually through layers of gesture.
